Film Submissions:
ANF Short Film Collective
is seeking submissions of short films and works-in-progress from emerging filmmakers for its upcoming showcases. The Collective, in conjunction with NY Perks, hosts a monthly screening series featuring the works of rising minority filmmakers and actors. The Collective’s mission is to give these artists a public venue for their work as well as feedback on and support for their projects.

This monthly screening series has introduced audiences to the works of filmmakers such as Roderick D. Giles, Kiri Davis (A Girl Like Me), Michael A. (Boogie) Pinckney, and actor-turned-filmmaker, Joie Lee (Crooklyn, Jesus Children of America). The Collective’s films have starred local and high profile actors, including Vanessa Williams (HBO’s Soul Food, New Jack City, The Cosby Show), Andre Royo (The Wire, Shaft, Law & Order), and male supermodel/actor, Tyson Beckford.

The Collective’s screenings draw film aficionados as well as corporate and creative professionals. The screenings are held on the second Thursday of each month at NY Perks Lounge and Grill, at 193 Smith Street (between Warren and Baltic Streets) in downtown Brooklyn. Each event includes four to six short films, followed by a brief question-and-answer session, often with the featured filmmakers and/or actors participating. Attendees also enjoy refreshments and music spun by leading-area DJs.

DVD film submissions of four to thirty minutes in length may be mailed with SASE to: ActNow Foundation, 138 South Oxford Street Brooklyn New York, 11217 Suite 1C.
